PASTA BAKE

serves	2

You will need 2 gratin dishes
cooking pasta	25minutes
bake	180C(fan), 30minutes

Ingredients

---for the pasta---

3oz	pasta
sufficient salted boiling water 

---for the filling---

oil for cooking
2  unsmoked chopped slices of bacon
1 sliced leek Alterenatively use 
onion, mushrooms, chard or mixed 
vegetables 

---for the cheese sauce---

1oz	unsalted butter
1oz	plain flour
300ml	liquid 
1oz	grated Cheddar cheese
1	bay leaf
        salt and pepper
        A half half mix of milk 
        and cooking water

---for the topping---

bread crumbs, grated Cheddar 
cheese and paprika

Method

1.Cook the pasta in a saucepan 
of boiling salted water for 25 
minutes. Drain. Keep some liquid 
for the sauce
 
2. Cook the bacon and leek (or 
other vegetables with oil until 
soft.

3. Put the bay leaf in the liquid 
set aside. Melt the butter in a 
saucepan over a low heat.Then add 
the flour and cook. Add half the 
liquid and stir until it thickens. 
Add the remaining liquid and cook. 
Add the cheese,the filling and 
pasta. Season with salt and 
pepper. And add more liquid if 
necessary. Discard the bay leaf.

4. Spoon the mixture into the 
gratin dishes. Then sprinkle with 
bread crumbs, grated cheese
and paprika.

5. Bake at 180C(fan),for 30 minutes
